Purpose-Built Medical Facility at Dooradoyle
Extension and Fitout for HSE Occupational Therapy & Community Intervention Team Unit
In November 2021, Collins Building & Civil Engineering Ltd successfully completed a high-spec healthcare facility in Dooradoyle, Limerick, for the Health Service Executive (HSE). The project involved the construction of a new unit to house both Occupational Therapy and Community Intervention Team services—designed, built, and finished to meet the strict standards of a modern medical environment.
Building with Care: Extension & Integration
At the heart of this project was the seamless integration of a new steel structure with an existing building. The extension featured an aluminium standing seam roof, selected for both its durability and clean architectural finish.
Despite the structural complexity, the Collins BCE team ensured the new build connected effortlessly to the existing unit, maintaining both form and function throughout.
Medical-Grade Fitout
The entire internal fitout was completed to a high medical specification, with every detail tailored to suit clinical workflows, hygiene standards, and user comfort. This included:
-
Purpose-designed treatment and therapy rooms
-
Durable, hygienic finishes throughout all internal spaces
-
Optimised lighting, ventilation, and accessibility for a healthcare setting
Every element of the interior was designed to support HSE staff and patients, ensuring the space was both functional and welcoming.
Supporting Infrastructure & Siteworks
Beyond the building itself, Collins BCE carried out a range of essential supporting works, including:
-
Stormwater Management with attenuation systems
-
Sewer and Water Connections to integrate with existing services
-
Extensive Car Park Construction to improve accessibility for staff and visitors
These works ensured the facility was not only ready for immediate use, but also built to accommodate future demand.
