Conservation Refurbishment & Rear Extension

Location: Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary

Transforming a Historic Building for Modern Public Use

Collins Building & Civil Engineering Ltd was appointed to carry out the full refurbishment and extension of the former RIC Barracks in Tipperary Town. The project involved sensitive conservation works alongside the construction of a substantial rear extension to accommodate modern office requirements for the Private Security Authority.

Scope of Works

  • Conservation-Led Refurbishment
Comprehensive upgrade of the four-storey historic structure, including:

    • Making good damaged elements
    • Partial replacement of aged materials
    • Restoration in line with best-practice conservation standards
All works were carried out under the supervision of specialist conservation architect Ms Helen Toppin.
  • Rear Extension Construction
Ground-up construction of a large, modern extension to the rear of the building, providing additional floor space to meet current and future operational needs.
